Day 87 through 90 into Day 92

Did it again - was so busy that I let writing here slide. Josh's week, Days 87 through 89 went fairly well at school - had a few PNES, particularly on Friday (Day 89) but he is working well and generally is "compliant" with everyone. There was even a notation on one of the days that he was "kind" to a peer - don't know what he did but that was good to see! We had a session with Dr. Straube on Friday - Josh talked a lot, talked about emotions he was feeling in different circumstances (that's new! talking about emotions is a new thing since being on NV), we talked about relaxation techniques, Doc said he would like to get to the point where he understands Josh enough to be able to talk without me in the room to interpret (he'll get there), but then wouldn't get up to leave. He laid down on the floor and we tried every technique to get him up and moving. He finally had a little overload (doc was doing "active ignoring" and was cleaning his office up, took out the vacuum and into the overload Josh went) and then got up only to have a full blown PNES in the doc's hallway when he saw the cord to the vacuum (Doc had put the vacuum into the bathroom but the cord was visible). Doc saw the whole progression into, through, and after the PNES. Josh got right up afterward (as usual) and walked out of the office. Doc was amazed - at the door, Doc said Josh certainly is a complex kid (do ya think??). Doc has earned Josh's trust, though. Josh asked the Doc to help him with his seatbelt - he does that when he trusts someone and likes them - it puts the person in really close proximity so it's clear Josh trusts him, allowing him to get in so physically close.

Gramma and Boompa kidsat Sat. a.m. (I had to go to the office to put in time to exchange for the coming week as I will still be getting Josh off the bus - haven't heard from Stephanie yet). Josh did really well, got up all on his own to pee, only one PNES right before dinner. Sunday was the same (Day 91). We were going to train watch in Elmhurst but Josh, after I had made the lunches to go for a picnic, decided he didn't want to go. I was a little peeved but he was clearly tired - he fell asleep almost immediately after he said he didn't want to go. So we wound up having a quiet day at home - good thing, it was soooo hot and humid, a picnic would have been horrible! He snoozed for awhile, then he was playing around and I was actually getting housecleaning done (yeah!) and laundry.

Into Day 92. Sending his bathing suit and towel to school for the pool at SEDOM tomorrow. Emily, his teacher, said she would personally work with him throughout the pool experience (since he's so nervous about the shower and pool there after what happened last year with the fall and breaking his leg). That will be interesting (?!?). So, on with Day 92! (and I'll try to actually write every day again!)
